Building Community Resilience

March 2017, Wendy Ellis, MPH, doctoral student and Milken Institute fellow, was recently awarded a Doris Duke Fellowship for the Promotion of Child Well-Being—seeking innovations to prevent child abuse and neglect. Ellis is Program Director at the Building Community Resilience (BCR) Collaborative at the Redstone Center and co-principal investigator with Dr. Bill Dietz. The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation (DDCF) fellowships “are designed to develop a new generation of leaders capable of creating practice and policy initiatives that will enhance child development and improve the nation's ability to prevent all forms of child maltreatment.” Thanks to the generous support of DDCF, fellows receive support for the completion of their dissertation and related research, and participate in peer learning opportunities to build an interdisciplinary network within the fellowship.
