March 25, 2026

Presenter at a podium
On Wednesday, March 25th, two of our researchers presented our team's work at the Extreme Weather Research Showcase hosted with the REACH Center, GW Alliance for a Sustainable Future (ASF), and the George Mason University's Institute for a Sustainable Earth (GMU ISE). The event focused on a wide range of work going on in this space, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of climate-health research. Dr. Sarah Dumas, Research Scientist, presented on her project on mapping extreme heat governance plans, while Katherine O'Brien, Graduate Research Assistant, presented on climate-informed surveillance for tick-borne diseases. Other presentations focused on emergency preparedness, communication, and more, and the resulting discussion highlighted the necessity of working together to solve the current and emerging problems posed by our changing climate.
