Recent research from the STOP Obesity Alliance published in Obesity is among the top 10% most downloaded papers from the journal. The Strategies to Overcome and Prevent (STOP) Obesity Alliance, a part of the Redstone Global Center for Prevention and Wellness, is made up of a diverse group of business, consumer, government, advocacy, and health organizations dedicated to reversing the obesity epidemic in the United States. Drawing on the strengths of the collaborative, STOP conducts research, makes policy recommendations, and develops hands-on tools for providers, advocacy groups, policymakers, and consumers.
Since 2018, three articles from STOP have been among the most downloaded resources from the journal Obesity, a monthly peer-reviewed medical journal covering research into obesity.
- Coverage for Obesity Prevention and Treatment Services: Analysis of Medicaid and State Employee Health Insurance Programs. This article provides an examination of changes in coverage for adult obesity treatment services in Medicaid and state employee health insurance programs between 2009 and 2017.
- Current Knowledge of Obesity Treatment Guidelines by Health Care Professionals. This article shares results from a study to assess health care professionals' knowledge of evidence‐based guidelines for the nonsurgical treatment of obesity.
- A Proposed Standard of Obesity Care for All Providers and Payers. This article outlines a practical, tangible, measurable, and simple standard of care for the treatment of adult obesity that provides guidance for both clinical providers and community settings.
