On March 24, 2020, the Redstone Global Center for Prevention and Wellness submitted comments to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service in response to the proposal: "Simplifying Meal Service and Monitoring Requirements in the National Lunch and School Breakfast Program." The Center strongly opposes the proposed rule because it would result in students being served less nutritious, higher calorie foods, and likely cause increases in childhood obesity and other poor health outcomes. "Providing students with healthier food options is a major step to improve their health and combat the obesity epidemic. The USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service should continue to uphold standards that improve nutrition in schools, rather than implementing rules that allow authorities to perpetuate less healthy menu options," said Dr. Bill Dietz, chair of the Redstone Global Center.
